Newsstands are slowly going away in NYC subways

More and more newsstands are declining inside NYC subways due to higher rent and less riders

Now MTA wants to replace vacant newsstands with vending machines that will provide snacks and other items including newspapers. Currently there are vacant spots at the rate of almost 50% and many newsstands have packed up and gone for good.

The MTA is working on the plan to setup machines which will add more revenue to repair the ailing subway system.
