New law facing arrest for not paying for haircuts and beauty services in NY

On Wednesday, September 26, Governor Cuomo signed the bill to make a new law. All barbershops, beauty parlors, salons and other service providers related to health and beauty can report people not paying for services rendered by facing arrest leading to misdemeanor charge. So in another words, if you don''t pay for your hair cut, you will go to jail.

The bill was drafted by Alicia Hyndman, Assembly member from Queens and Marison Alcatara, Senate from Manhattan. Cuomo stated, "Beauty salons and barber shops are no different than other small businesses whose livelihoods depend on the support of their communities. This legislation closes a nonsensical loophole that gives these businesses equal protection under the law once and for all." One local barbershop suggested of patrons showing municipal identification taking the info down before hair cut to prevent from running out to show to police with surveillance video.
