Nassau County to increase police presence involving vehicles

The Nassau County Executive office announced more police presence on the roads after increasing vehicle accidents including DWI. Also on the parkways where more vehicle accidents were reported including fire especially the Southern State Parkway.

Last night police closed off the Jericho Turnpike in Bellerose reporting an accident with an overturned vehicle at the intersection of 248 Street where poles were knocked down. The car fire was reported on the Southern State Parkway by Exit 19 from the picture. Also a teen died after being struck by a vehicle in Bellmore last week.

More than 100 cops will be out on the road for Thanksgiving holiday week to enforce DWI, speeding and distracted driving including use of phones.

The Governor will announce statewide also in the coming days.
