NYC DA s decline to prosecute social distancing violators

The District Attorneys of Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx has declined to prosecute social distancing violators related to COVID. This came after public data showing disparity of higher arrests in the minority neighborhood.
Patrick Lynch of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association stated social distancing enforcement by NYPD is a waste of time for the police.
On May 11, NYPD issued 10 summonses for social distancing violations with no arrests.
NYPD reported the violations are not social distancing but COVID related and involved offenses such as resisting arrest, drug possession and altercations caused by jumping a line while waiting to enter a supermarket. 120 arrests were reported between March 15 and May 5.
The NYC mayor reported the operation will continue with NYPD enforcement.
