Multiple rescues after sinking boat reported in Nassau County

Around 8:30pm on July 25, the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau Officers reported a sinking boat by Marine 8. This is in Sands Point. After approaching the boat, officers told all passengers to put on flotation devices. About 10 were rescued shortly and then water was pumped out slowly. The boat was transported to Marina 8 on City Island. The passengers were safely dropped at thee original destination by NCPD Marina. Further investigation reported the owner of the boat received summonses for equipment failure. Passengers were checked by EMS and no injuries reported.
