Metal detector added inside a NYC subway station

On December 11, MTA reported the first metal detector installed as part of NYPD's bag search program inside NYC subway station.

The first and the only one is at the 42nd Street station that connects the Port Authority Bus Terminal to A,C and E trains.

The detector was installed after pipe bomb attack one year ago. The suspect, Akayed Ullah is still in jail.

The screening will be random for subway riders with police monitoring around the clock. More stations will be added depending on the MTA's budget.
