Mayor de Blasio is coming to Flushing Meadows Corona Park

Today afternoon, Mayor de Blasio will be arriving at the Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The USTA Tennis Center named after Billie Jean King will be setup as a temporary hospital for non-ICU coronavirus patients. The ice rink location will be used as morgue. The 350 bed facility will start today after the mayor's press statement. The city's emergency management is working with the Army Corps of Engineering and NY state officials. The location will also be used as a place to make 25,000 meal package for health care workers. As per the mayor, he is considering a decision for this year's US open which is in August. Originally it was postponed but will have to wait for a new decision.
