Massapequa man charged with criminal posession of a weapon in Bethpage

The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man for Criminal Possession of a Weapon that occurred on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 10:40 a.m. in Bethpage.

According to Detectives, Eighth precinct Officers conducted a Vehicular Traffic Law stop in the vicinity of Union Avenue and Hicksville Road. After a thorough investigation Officers located a black handgun within the vehicle. Defendant Shyheim Smith, 27, of 4387 Merrick Road was arrested without incident. 

Defendant Smith is charged with two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Firearm and multiple Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
