Manhattan s first public beach opens

The first beach in Manhattan is now open. This is on Gansevoort Peninsula at the Hudson River Park.

This is by the Meatpacking District.

Technically it's a park but the Governor wants to call it a beach. It has a large sports field, sunning lawn, fitness equipment for adults, a picnic area, boardwalks and promenades.

As for swimming, wait for a long time, maybe 10 years due to water cleansing facilities not available in current budget.

Two more beaches of the same model are coming to the East River, in Williamsburg and Brooklyn in five years.

So please wait and then wait some more years for swimming.

Maybe there is a plan to swim to Jersey and vice versa.
