Man pleaded guilty to stealing tortoise from Bayside center

Shawn Waters, 37 pleaded guilty to stealing tortoise, well known at the Bayside Alley Pond Environmental Center on Thursday, Decembr 8. The animal was stolen last July and Waters was arrested shortly after the investigation. The tortoise named Millenium was a popular figure at the center for kids. Waters posted ad on Craigslist and a man in Connecticut replied to meet. The buyer realized the animal was stolen and alerted police. That's when Waters was taken into custody. Waters sentencing is on January 18 and he is heading to prison for six months if convicted.
