MTA announced platform screen doors in NYC subways

The MTA announced the installation of platform screen doors inside the NYC subways. The first three locations are Sutphin Blvd for the E line, 3rd Avenue for the L line and Times Square for the 7 train. This is due to many people being pushed to the tracks by other people who are still roaming inside the subways.

The good news is that the prison populations in NY is at the lowest. 10,881 has been released to various programs and free. The rate is down to 26%, the lowest. In 2005, the prison population was 62,473 and for 2021, it's 31,262.

The local politicians pushed for this plan for the safety measures while homeless can live happily ever after inside the subways. The pilot program will start this summer. The NYC Mayor is still in the hiring process for social workers to add for the subways when the plan goes live in April. At the moment, the Mayor's office stated around 100 outreach workers are in the subways working with the homeless to place them into various programs.
