Long Island father and son charged with arson in Queens

The federal authorities arrested Narinder Singh, 56 and his son, Jawahar Singh, 29 and charged with arson today for the fire on February 18 in South Richmond Hill.

The investigation uncovered details of the fire from the security cameras all around leading to the arrests of the accused father and son. The fire on February 18 around 12:30am rendered the entire location inhabitable and soon to be demolished.

From the investigation it was a dispute between the landlord and the arrested duo as tenants that has been going on for over ten years. The city marshal sent a notice of eviction on January 29, 2026 leading to the final straw.

Meanwhile, the entire community is shocked to hear the arrests, which is a close knit neighborhood where most people know each other from the local temples.

Both accused are arraigned today at the federal court in Brooklyn.
