Local residents spent more time on the phone than TV

As of September, there was a huge increase in larcenies in Glen Oaks and Bellerose where cops say suspects steal mail which contains bank cards. Then go to the local stores to make quick purchases before the alert hits the panic button toward the card owners to cancel immediately.

Local residents of Glen Oaks reported over $5,000 transactions were conducted and most of the incidents occurred in the local retailers. The chain pharma companies from Walgreens to CVS reported loss of inventory while alerting the police around the clock.

According to the Mayor's office, credit card theft protection programs help with loss by working with the bank card companies which sometimes takes two days to solve a dispute while missing favorite television shows.

However, it is the responsibility of the individual card holder to report to the police for investigation.
