According to the five boro DA's offices announced, the total cases pending for gun violence is 6,193. This includes possession, releasing the safety, releasing the safety freeing bullet, releasing the safety again to free more bullets and whipping. Pending cases are backlogged except homicide with no bails. NYPD expects the numbers to go up with more bullets inside newer victims in NYC. The backlogs are caused by the pandemic. However, A year after the riots and looting of NYC almost all cases are being dropped.
