Hit and run with one dead in Sunnyside

Police have closed off 47th Avenue in Sunnyside reporting a hit and run with one dead. This is by 46th St.

Reportedly this was a parent and child crossing the street when the vehicle struck. The vehicle, a white truck, is now on the hunt by police.

EMS transported the child to a local hospital.

The medical examiner transported the body pending autopsy.

The intersection is closed.

Highway CIS is investigating the scene.

Update - The victim is a 16 year old teen and the other one is the younger sister, 8 years old in the hospital. Police apprehended the driver and taken into custody. It happened in front of the school during early release after graduation.
