Hit and run with one dead in Nassau County

The NCPD reports the details of a fatal vehicular accident involving a pedestrian that occurred on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at 11:19 pm in North Lawrence.

According to detectives, a male pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling on Rockaway Turnpike in the vicinity of East Avenue. The vehicle fled the scene.

The male victim suffered severe trauma and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
