Hempstead homicide update of two suspects

The Homicide Squad is investigating a homicide that occurred on Monday, November 25, 2019 at 2:25A.M. in Hempstead.

According to detectives,officers responded to a Shot Spotter Activation in the vicinity of 66 Burnett Street. Upon arrival officers found a 34 year old male victim lying on the ground. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. The investigation is ongoing.

Detectives request that if anyone has information regarding this incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.

Update - November 27, 2019 - The victim has been identified as Jose Leonardo Sanchez, also known as Santos, 33, of Hempstead.

Update - February 7, 2020 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of Kadeem Lewis, 26, of 95 Terrace Avenue, Hempstead, for the above listed incident. He is being charged with Murder 2nd Degree and Violation of Parole. He will be arraigned on Friday, February 7, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.

Update - February 7, 2020 - The Homicide Squad reports the arrest of Richard Ford, 33, homeless, for the above listed incident. He has been charged with Murder 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Friday,February 7, 2020 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
