Heavy delays on BP westbound

Police, EMS, ESU and FDNY are on Belt Parkway westbound at Francis Lewis Blvd reporting a sanitation truck unauthorized on the parkway struck the underpass bridge.

The impact caused the top to dismantle splitting the truck into two.

At the same time, two vehicles coming behind went under the dismantled truck with entrapment. Multiple people taken to hospitals with injuries.

All lanes were closed for ambulances now with one lane open for traffic.

Ongoing investigation. It happened around 8:30pm.
