Head of Queens nonprofit arrested for fraud

Gregory Vasicek, 59, the president of Play4Autism was arrested out of his home in Queens and charged with fraud on multiple counts.

According to the Suffolk County DA’s Office, Vasicek is accused of failure to pay money to vendors in Long Island for services provided to the nonprofit. He is also accused of raking in hundreds of dollars in registration fees from donors for a golf outing that never happened.
The complaint reported between April 21 and May 2, multiple checks paid out to vendors bounced.

Vasicek allegedly solicited for money that was received for an event on October 19 in Manorville, Long Island but the event never took place.

According to the Suffolk County DA’s statement,

"This defendant allegedly took advantage of the goodwill and generosity of Suffolk County residents to benefit himself. My office is committed to prosecuting all those who steal, but thefts committed under the guise of a charity to benefit autistic children are particularly loathsome."
