Governor announced new subway safety measures

During today's State of the State address today, the NY Governor announced new measures for subway safety.

The first task is to collaborate with the NYPD to add more police personnel of 750 officers around stations and 300 inside the cars. This is in addition to the National Guardsmen. The locations are where 50% of the crime takes place.

The second task is to add more police officers during night time including inside cars from 9pm to 5am. The 7 line will be the priority, especially Jackson Heights to Corona.

The third task is fare evasion. With new investments to add advanced gates announced for 20 locations for this year with another 20 for next year.

The first location to have new gates to control fare evasion is Jackson Heights - Roosevelt Avenue, the number one location in NYC that cost the MTA millions. Then 42nd Street - Port Authority followed by Delancey Street - Essex Street.

The fourth task is adding platform edge barriers at more stations.

The fifth task is more colored lights to direct the public to show where the train stations are from the streets.
