Fire damaged a home in Elmhurst

The FDNY reported heavy fire at a private dwelling in Elmhurst. This is on 79th Street near 42nd Avenue at the unit 42/37.

The fire marshal reported this is a second alarm with all from the home evacuated safely. EMS reported minor injuries so far but continue to check on all.

Red Cross is on the scene working to locate all displaced to shelters.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
