Fight broke out at LA Fitness with one arrest in NHP

The NCPD reports an arrest for an assault that occurred at 3:50pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023, in New Hyde Park.
According to detectives, officers responded to the LA Fitness located at 1111 Marcus Avenue for a male bleeding.  The investigation determined that the male victim, 37, was punched in the face resulting in substantial pain, swelling, bruises and lacerations. When officers advised defendant Bryan A. Daney, 20, of Bayside that he was under arrest, he refused to comply. Officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest. The victim and two officers were transported to local area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
Defendant Bryan A. Daney is charged with two counts of assault 2nd degree, assault 3rd degree, criminal mischief 3rd degree and resisting arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, February 3, 2023, in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
