Fatality after explosion and fire in Jackson Heights

FDNY reported explosion in a penthouse at 73-01 41st Avenue in Jackson Heights. This is a 6 story apartment tower. Reported the fire started after explosion resulting third alarm. 1 person dead and 6 injuries including members of FDNY. It started around 10:30am. As of today afternoon, 41st Avenue is closed from 71 to 75 Streets. Firefighters are working on the scene.
