Fatal Queens Village fire deemed homicide

Police confirmed one person is in custody after investigation of the fatal fire in Queens Village. The fire at 88-20 219 Street that occurred on September 3 around 11:15pm was suspicious first reported by the fire marshal. The fire killed a 63 year old woman living inside the home in a wheelchair. Reported a tenant who was getting evicted is in custody. Police believe more people are involved in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
Update - Rampersaud Persaud, 49 year old male charged with two counts of murder and one count of arson.
