Fake man of cloth wanted for burglary in Oakland Gardens

The NYPD released surveillance pictures of a suspect wanted for posing as a priest and accused of burglary at the local church in Oakland Gardens. This is on the corner of Bell Blvd and Union Turnpike. The suspect removed almost $1,000 from the church.

The suspect told the priest at the church he is visiting from Rome, Italy. This is when the priest invited the suspect to the rectory and then allegedly removed the cash from one of the rooms.

The suspect took off when the priest requested a form of identification. A meeting was held by the local priests and confirmed the same suspect committed the similar acts in Suffolk County and Brooklyn with the narratives.

Ongoing investigation.
