Fair Fares NYC is overloaded with staff shortage

Ok fares went up $3 per ride which is so expensive.

Low income individuals can apply for 50% discount as part of Fair Fares NYC. Now get this, the program received over a cool one million new applications and the city is short staffed to handle the process. Most are complaining why the MTA raised the fare by 5 cents which is also expensive per ride. Since eligible locals can receive 50% of subway, ferry and select bus rides to $1.50 as of January 4, the Mayor's Office is looking this issue.

Now read this - Multiple staff at the MTA says if fare evasion is eliminated then there is no need for fare hike which costs loss of over $1 billion annually.

Now the crisis started after commuters with disabilites are lagging with paper works and families earning up to $48,225 for four persons per ride is demanding the city to speed up the process.

The normal process is 30 days but now it may takes longer.

As of today, 376,291 have enrolled in the program and the goal is to reach one million. This program is a great way to keep fares affordable in NYC without affecting fare evasion.
