Equifax settlement revised payment method

Equifax revised the payment settlement after another court fiasco. As of Friday, the company agreed to settle $575 million but only $31 million will be allotted for payouts to 147 million affected. Instead of $125 payout, it will be just 16 to 20 cents unless a consumer can prove of deep identity theft from the breach. This will usually require a lawyer and cost money unless you are lucky to get one for free. The company agreed to spend the balance from $31 million to allow affected consumers to have free credit monitoring services for 10 years to improve technology. Even better, the company will make up the loss easily with advertising income from online and apps.
