Entire NY will cough up for childcare seats in NYC

The NY Governor and the NYC Mayor announced the free child care seats starting at 2,000 for 2 year olds at four locations except Staten Island. This is for fall 2026 and then next year fall 2027 will have 12,000 seats.

All paid by NY taxpayers starting with $73 million and extending to $425 million which is peanuts for child care services in NYC where the average cost is $3,000 a month for working parents. The total investment for child care and prekindergarten services across the state will be $4.5 billion for the year 2027.

The entire setup will cost taxpayers $8 billion in NYC alone with so many perks and benefits for those part of the program.

The locations are all strong voter bases to help the governor a victory in the November election which is much needed to keep it under one party rule. The locations are Washington Heights and Inwood, Fordham and Kingsbridge, East Brooklyn: Canarsie, Brownsville, and Ocean Hill, Ozone Park and Rockaways.

The enrollment will be announced in the coming weeks.
