Cunningham Park is divided over Big Apple Circus for next year

After cancelling 2016-2017 season due to bankruptcy by the Big Apple Circus, its new owner, Compass Partners, a private equity firm based in Florida is resuming events in NYC. It was brought in auction by winning the $1.3 million dollars bid. Currently, the circus is scheduled to continue at their long time location, the Damrosch Park in Lincoln Center and the first show is on October 27, 2017. As for Cunningham Park, the organization, Friends of Cunningham Park is against them from coming to the park next year and submitted their protest notice to NYC Dept of Parks and Recreation. Community Board 8 has voted to allow the circus for next year by 36 votes and 2 opposed. So far, park officials has not responded but looming to lawsuits maybe heading the way.
