Cooking oil theft is now a never ending investigation

The latest arrest made in Long Island is two suspects arrested for allegedly stealing used cooking oil from over 10 eateries.

More arrests are reported in NY as well as nationwide.

Now the public are becoming aware of the real reason for such thefts.

Further investigation confirmed theft of used cooking oil is a $75 million dollar business soon to reach $100 million according to law enforcement officials.

It's a very complex and sophisticated operation by a small group since most of the eateries must pay a fee to have used cooking oil disposed of by legally operated companies that are taking over $250 million dollars annually.

This is similar to metal recycling and companies pay a small group of people for bringing used cooking oil without asking questions of where they got it from.

The used oil collected from eateries is then transported to companies that makes biofuels for the market as part of energy renewable sources.
