Consider moved to confirmation of Amazon s second head office to LIC

Amazon confirmed that Long Island City will be the second head office after rumors and consideration.

The third head office will be in Crystal City, Northern Virginia. After receiving 238 locations from elected officials, the company narrowed down to 20 last January.

Two weeks ago, the company met with Governor Cuomo chalking the details.

Long Island City is a growth hub with over 135,000 residents with aged 25 and over at 40% with minimum of bachelor's degree or higher according to Furman Center Data.

The median household income is $63,500. Despite the company's $15 minimum wage, the LIC jobs are all professional with average of $100,000 or higher salary range since its corporate level.

With 600,000 employees worldwide, the headquarters in Seattle has 40,000 employees with 33 buildings. Many local neighbors in Woodside and Sunnyside are not comfortable with the company being in LIC as inflation from rent to taxes will go up.
