Church choir director busted for sexual assault in Westbury

The Special Victims Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for an incident that occurred on Sunday, January 4th, 2026 at 12:30 PM in East Meadow.

According to detectives, Defendant Selvin Bonilla Navarrete, 43, of 63 March Lane was at Iglesia Pentecostal Jesus Es Luz located at 242 E Meadow Avenue, where he is a church choir director. During a break, he drove a 14 year old female victim, who is a member of the church, to a parking lot located at 1874 Front Street. While inside the defendant’s vehicle, he inappropriately touched the victim.

Defendant Selvin Bonilla Navarrete is charged with Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
