Bus driver arrested for assault in Nassau County

The First Squad reports the arrest of an Amityville man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 3:30 PM in Nassau County.

According to detectives, Defendant Devone Medlock, 37, of 806 Bayview Avenue, was working as a school bus aide for First Student bus company. The defendant became physically and verbally abusive with multiple children who are special needs students. The defendant’s violent behavior included pushing, slamming, restraining and sitting on students. The students attend the Grand Avenue School in Baldwin. The defendant was placed under arrest at his residence.

Defendant Devone Medlock is charged with six counts of Assault 3rd Degree, six counts of Menacing 3rd Degree and six counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He will be arraigned on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
