Binghamton man arrested following child exploitation investigation

On October 15, 2026, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal of Investigation at Binghamton, with the assistance of the Troop C Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, arrested Shawn Lewis Degler, 32, of Binghamton for Promoting A Sexual Performance by a Child less than 17 years of age, a class “D” felony and Possessing Sexual Performance by a Child under the age of 16, a class “E” felony.

Degler is accused of promoting and possessing images consistent with child sexual exploitation. His arrest follows an investigation and the execution of a search warrant at his residence in Binghamton, on October 15, 2026. The investigation stemmed from a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
