Bellerose woman found guilty of campaign fraud

Celia Dosamantes, 26 of Bellerose is found guilty of 18 counts of campaign fraud. According to NYC Board of Election Campaign Finance, Dosamantes forged 32 contribution cards with $3,255 donations using names for the six to one matching fund system. She was campaigning for the NYC Council in 2015 seat that was vacated by Mark Weprin. Barry Grodenchick won the election. If the matching fund was approved, almost $20,000 in public funds would have been given to her. The NYC Campaign Finance noticed the cards being different from the legal ones when they were discovered in August 2015 during a compliance meeting and alerted Manhattan DA's office. A search warrant was executed and items including computers were taken from her home. She was arrested in September 6, 2016. Dosamantes was an aspiring candidate and worked at NYS Assembly David Weprin's and Congresswoman Grace Meng's office. Her sentencing is on March 22. pic from twitter.
