Bayside man became the 8th victim to commit suicide after unable to pay yellow cab bill

Roy Kim, 58 of Bayside committed suicide on November 5 at his home after unable to pay bills while renting a yellow taxi from NYC Taxi and Limo Commission. He is the 8th victim to commit suicide.

NYC Medical Examiner reported Kim died of hanging with a belt.

No suicide note was left. His family reported he was over $500,000 in debt when he purchased a yellow taxi.

His friends blames Uber and Lyft but putting cap restrictions doesn't seems to help.

The city is looking at the matter to reduce the cost of yellow cabs pending review with the NYC Council. This is from NY Taxi Works Union.
