Astoria man busted for terrorism charge in Westbury

Police reports the arrest of an Astoria, Queens man for an incident that occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 12:35 am in Westbury.

According to detectives, Emad Newaz, 25, of Astoria, attempted to enter a Ward Street residence by pulling on the doors handle, kicking the door and yelling, ?Let me in?. After a female resident began to scream, Newaz pulled a decorative wreath from the door, threw it to the ground and fled the scene.

Officers, who were dispatched to the home, were able to locate Newaz a short time later where he was placed under arrest.

While in police custody, during his arrest processing, Newaz make verbal threats to place a bomb in the precinct and blow it up.

Newaz is charged with Attempted Burglary 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 4th Degree and Making a Terroristic Threat. He was arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 12/18/2019. (From NCPD)
