Armed robbery attempt at the local bank in Glen Oaks

This late afternoon during closing time, that's 5 minutes to 5, police reported an attempted armed robbery at the local bank in Glen Oaks. This is on 257 Street and Union Turnpike inside the shopping center at the Citizen Bank.

According to sources, three suspects, males, were inside the parking lot waiting for the bank to close when a staff member was trying to lock up. This is when one of the suspects displayed a knife to the worker's throat after resisting and breaking the door glass according to a witness. One of the suspects entered the bank and then demanded cash but no avail and this is not confirmed. Within a few minutes, the suspects broke out from the parking lot entrance and took off in a sedan vehicle.

One source reported the suspects are mixed race from white to Hispanics.

EMS reported no injuries but all were emotionally shaken.

Police are working on the surveillance footage.

ESU is working on the scene for evidence search.
