10 mile bike path extension from Tobay Beach to Captree State Park in Long Island began

The construction of 10 mile bike and pedestrian path in the final section of the Ocean Parkway Coastal Greenway Shared Use Path on Long Island has started. It will cost $16.2 million. The route spans Babylon, Oyster Bay and Islip. The paths will be separated by guard rails between vehicles and bike/pedestrian users. The state Dept of Transportation also announced bike parking spots at Gilgo Beach, Cedar Beach Marina and Captree State Park.
